JIVAMRUT - Way to Recharge Your Garden and Pot Soil

Jivamrut is a simple way to make your soil fertile and aerated.

Due to extensive use of chemical fertilizer and unorganized and over watering our soil has become infertile and hard. To bring back the fertility and make the soil aerated “Jivamrut” is the only answer to all the soil problems.

What is Jivamrut ?

Jivamrut is not a fertilizer. It is a culture of beneficial micro organisms which is introduced to the soil to increase its soil flora (i.e. microbial count) and the C:N ratio (i.e. carbon to nitrogen ratio).

Our soil is a media for plant to grow their root for support and absorbe nutrition and water which is available or applied to the soil. But the nutrients we apply as fertilizer, which may be organic or inorganic, are not in the form which can be easily absorbed by the roots of the plants. The beneficial micro organisms in the soil convert these fertilizer into compounds which plants can absorb. If these organisms are not present in the soil then the applied fertilizer will be washed away by the rain water or Irrigation water and thus even after applying fertilizer regularly the plants don’t grow properly or have a healthy growth. Also this make soil more compact and hard and reduce aeration in the soil. This ultimately results into infertile soil.

When we apply “Jivamrut” to such soil it slowly starts forming colonies of these organisms in the soil. This attracts earthworms which starts making the soil porous, making it more soft and aerated. The roots of the plants in such soft and aerated soil grow more vigorously and develop a good root structure. The micro organisms starts converting the nutrients into absorbable form for the plants. These nutrients are thus absorbed by the plants ultimately resulting into vigorous growth of the plants, high yield, and great quality flowers and fruits.

Jivamrut is a mixture of Cow dung, Gomutra, Jaggery and Pulse Flour in water and applied to the roots of the plants. The fresh cow dung is mixed properly with Gomutra till it makes a suspension. This is then added to water in a drum. Then desolve the jaggery separately in some water and add the pulse flour to it. Mix well and then add this mixture to the drum containing cow dung and Gomutra. Stir the mixture in clockwise direction twice a day for 2 to 3 days. Take care that the drum is placed in a shaded area. After 2 to 3 days the Jivamrut is ready for application. Use this prepared Jivamrut within a week for best results. The proportion of the ingredients are given in the photo below.
